Autism Awareness Fact-a-Day

Have your students read a fact during morning announcements, write a fact on the chalkboard or create a bulletin board full of facts throughout April.  Here are some suggestions:

  • April is Autism Awareness Month
  • Autism affects 1 in 45 children in NJ
  • Autism affects more boys than girls
  • There is no known cure for autism
  • Someone who has autism is born with it
  • Autism is a problem in the brain
  • People with autism can have difficulty speaking or expressing themselves
  • All people with autism are not alike
  • People with autism have strengths and weaknesses just like you and me
  • People with autism can show love and friendship
