Historic! On March 27, 2013 The Honorable Cory Booker issued a proclamation declaring April as Autism Awareness Month in the City of Newark.
August 31, 2012 Autism NJ Ambassador distributes autism literature as she engages children in coloring activities discouraging the use of guns and violent toys. Wafiyyah Muhammad donated toys and books to the Stop Shooitn' Music initiative held at "Boys Park" Sussex Ave & Duryea Streets, Newark NJ. Area children were given toys/books in exchange for a toy gun. The children had a great time and learned a valuable lesson. Batman was given autism literature! (See pictures on site).
June 2012- Families living with Autism enjoyed a complimentary meal in a judge free environment at Applebees Restaurant in Union, NJ. Families also received gift cards donated by Shoprite, Home Depot, Targets, Stop and Shop and Walmart. A former student of veteran educator, Wafiyyah Muhammad was awarded a $500 scholarship. It was delightful observing all the families enjoying themselves!
