Re: April is National Autism Awareness Month

Dear Mayor {Insert Mayor’s Last Name Here},

I am writing you as a resident of {Insert Your Town Name Here}, an Autism Awareness Ambassador for Autism New Jersey and proud {describe your relationship to autism here – eg. “dad to a 6 year old boy with autism.”}.

Autism affects 1 in 68 individuals nationally and in New Jersey 1 in 45.  I am hoping that the {Insert Your Town Name Here} Council will help raise awareness for autism and help its residents become better educated about this disorder.  As a {parent/teacher/family member} and an advocate, I am hopeful that this awareness will lead to greater acceptance and understanding of individuals with autism and help children be diagnosed and treated at an early age.

I would like you and the Council to issue a proclamation proclaiming April 2016 as AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH in {Insert Your Town Name Here}.  I have attached a sample proclamation for your review.

Please let me know if you and the Council would consider this proclamation.  I would be happy to attend a Council meeting as well.  Thank you in advance for your attention and I wish the best to you and your family.

Sincerely,

{Your Name Here}
