Why Awareness Matters: Bullying Prevention
Children with autism and other disabilities are at increased risk for bullying.
Autism Awareness lessons in the classroom can be an effective way to build peer support and combat bullying.
Unfortunately, bullying remains a substantial issue that can have lasting consequences. Still too often, we hear of reports of those with autism endangered by reckless bullying.
September of 2021, teens were arrested in Northern New Jersey after a 14-year-old with autism had his pants and underwear pulled down while others recorded him and posted the video to social media.
It doesn’t have to be criminal to cause harm. Simple lessons that create a greater understanding and build friendships can make a big difference.
